Size reduction of pipes and profiles |

 |
| The size reduction machine manufacturers, WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH, Ilsfeld/Germany, have developed two new one-shaft size reduction machines particularly for size reduction of pipes and profiles with a large diameter and/or a long length. |

Depending on rotor diameter and/or rotor width the one-shaft size reduction machine WLK-R permits the preliminary disintegration of pipe pieces with a diameter of 1,200 mm and/or a length of up to 3 m. The material is fed from above into the machine through a funnel, pushed against the turning rotor by a hydraulic and load-controlled pushing device and reduced in size. The newly developed "pipe spacer", a particular shape of the funnel, and the toothed rail integrated in the pushing device prevent bridging and result in a controlled material supply.
The reduction machine is offered with rotor widths of 1,000 mm to 3,000 mm and optionally with electrical or hydraulic drive from 55 kW to 2 x 150 kW drive rating. Different rotor diameters (368 mm to 1,000 mm) are used that are equipped with four-faced cutting-turning crowns (40x40 mm, 60x60 mm, 80x80 mm). Depending on the screen hole diameter the granular material has a size from 20 to 100 mm. Depending on grain size and material the achievable throughput is between 200 and 5,000 kg/h.
While the material is fed from above into the funnel with the WLK-R, the new one-shaft size reducing machine WPR-HK has a horizontal feeding unit "side pass". Here up to 8 m long pipes and profiles up to a diameter of 800 mm are laterally fed to the rotor in batches, pushed against the rotor by means of a hydraulic system with controlled counter-pressure, and reduced in size. With an integrated telescopic hydraulic system the feeding port of the cutting area can optionally be closed manually or automatically.
At both machines, WLK-R and WPR-HK, the preliminary disintegrated material can be discharged over a conveying belt and reduced in size to final grain size (<8 mm) in a subsequent size reducing machine of type NZ and/or SMW. Optionally a non-ferrous/ferrous separator for interference material separation or a metal detector is installed over the conveying belt. |
